FIU Online’s Educational Technology Manager, Gus Roque, was invited to serve as a panelist at the OLC Accelerate 2016 Conference. The conference was held in Orlando, Florida from November 16 – 18, 2016 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel.
Dr. Kelvin Thompson, Director of Online Design & Development Strategy from University of Central Florida moderated the panel. Also part of the panel was Amy Roche, Instructional Designer from Penn State University and John Raible, Instructional Designer from University of Central Florida.
The panel session was a Town Hall session tittled: Trends and Innovations. The purpose of the session was to highlight and discuss the upcoming educational technology trends and emerging technologies as seen from the perspectives of those working in higher education institutions.
The panel discussed the relationship between the trends and innovations in the distance learning field and the core functions of the work being performed at universities. Also discussed were the trending technologies such as adaptive learning, augmented reality, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence.
The session was also live streamed and accepted questions from those attending virtually.
