innovedCon 2019, an FIU Online powered Learning Design Conference, was held on October 2nd & 3rd at the InterContinental Doral in Miami Florida.

FIU Online’s second innovedCon event invited online higher education professionals from around the country to participate in immersive sessions showcasing the latest in emerging online curricular design practices. The conference provided attendees with the opportunity to customize their experience via three separate tracks:
LEAD: Designed for learning leaders looking to work smarter not harder, this track focused on program administration, management, planning, and evaluation.
DESIGN: This track provided the tools needed to be effective in higher teaching and learning; covering online learning best practices, how-tos, case studies, and emerging industry trends
CREATE: This “Bring Your Own Device” track featured interactive sessions with hands-on, step-by-step instructions from development experts on the latest design tools.
innovedCon 2019: Immersive Sessions
Sessions at this year’s innovedcon highlighted tools and strategies needed for attendees to stand out in their industry. Topics included:
- Harnessing the power of EQ (Emotional Intelligence)to foster meaningful instructional design
- Learning how to unlock full leadership potential
- Brushing up on graphic design skills
- Identifying the key to building stronger Instructional Designer – Faculty relationships
- Getting hands-on training with a new technology or tool

innovedCon 2019: Innovative Speakers
The conference featured an inspiring keynote presentation, a panel style conversation with industry disruptors, and a mojito mix & mingle book exchange.
Keynote speaker Richard Casper is a United States Marine Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, artist, and entrepreneur. He co-founded CreatiVets, a non-profit that provides art, music, and writing programs for combat veterans with post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Richard spoke to conference attendees about his own journey harnessing his PTS and TBI through the arts.
If you ever want to be inspired almost to the brink of tears then innovedcon is the place to be. The break out sessions and Keynote speakers gave a thoughtful outlook on how education can shape our society for the better. -Conference attendee Brandon Castro
Featured Speakers Logan Cohen, Nashra Balagamwala and Susan Germer hosted a panel discussion. The discussion was titled “Leveling Up Learner Motivation: A Conversation with Industry Disruptors”. Panelists shared their personal journeys in developing game changing education based companies while answering questions from the crowd.
